What
is KyotoLOCO ?
KyotoLOCO is a celebration of our beautiful way
of life. Our aim is to promote awareness of messenger
work and culture. KyotoLOCO, a grass-roots event
promoted by just eight messengers, is recognized
as one of the most important messenger events
next to CMWC, ECMC and NACCC. In 2009, as a Pre-event of Cycle Messenger World Championship in Tokyo, about 100 messengers
from North America, Europe, and Australia, and more than 300 from
other cities of Japan participated in the 2 days
event.
Why
in Kyoto ?
Economically, Kyoto is not competitive with Tokyo,
Osaka, or Nagoya where almost all business happens,
yet many people consider Kyoto to be the heart
of Japan. In addition, Kyoto was the capital of
Japan for 1100 years and much of the historical
features remain. Home to 32 universities and 21
colleges, the city is also known for invention
and innovation. Students from all over the world
bring their culture and new ideas to add to the
traditional culture.
Kyoto
is an undoubted hub of bike culture. The majority
of residents ride bikes, not cars and social interaction
among cyclists with different interests is very
active. Thanks to the size of the city, every
time you go around the city, you meet a friend
on a bike.
